Yeti tumbler provides respite in the summer or winter months.
However, you’d ask how a tumbler can keep your content hot and still manage to keep it cold for hours?
Cause Yeti use the most robust quality materials to make sure their tumblers are better than average products you’d pick up on a store shelf. Both in durability and thermal performance wise.
However, as you already know, there’s no such thing as a perfect product. All have their respective problems, as for the Yeti, it’s all about the high price consumers feel outrageous.
There is no denying that a tumbler from Yeti costs a fortune and some people have been embroiled in a debate if Yeti products justify the high price. We’ve written about this topic, and you can check it out here.
Whether you are out on the field, camping, or picnic. You’ll find a perfect buddy to keep beverage hot or cold.
Yeti Cups Review
How long can these tumblers hold cold or hot content? Let’s take a look at a hot and cold-water test and how it compares to an average generic model.
Hot Water Test
During our hot water test., we used the 30oz Model and filled it with hot water around 180% Celsius. We picked up a popular model, however, since this is no comparison between any product, we opted to leave the name out.
The process we followed:
1. Both cups were filled with hot water of the same temperature.
2. We bought two thermometers from Walmart to avoid discrepancies in the readings.
3. Temperatures were taken periodically
4. After 6 hours, temperatures were taken, and we were surprised that the Yeti was slightly better than the other model. After 6 hours, the Yeti dropped by 40% while the generic trailed at 45%.
Overall, the Yeti manages to keep hot content for up to 6 hours!
Cold Water Test
We used the same 30oz Tumbler in the cold-water test. Unlike the hot water test in which a thermometer was used, we used water volume to see how much ice these cups can hold. This is how it all went;
1. Ice cubes were measured equally put in both cups. We made sure both models were put under a shade outdoors.
2. The ice was left for 6 hours.
3. After the 6 hour period, some ice was still floating in the pool of water.
4. The water was then poured into a measuring jug.
Readings were taken – the generic cup had more water volume than yeti. We can assert the latter to be better in ice retention too.
Things We Like:
User-friendly – Drinking from the lid doesn’t give off that metallic taste you’d find on most models on the market.
Durable – Made to be leak-proof and shatterproof, this is a great buy for life product.
It doesn’t sweat – You’ll love it cause the content inside whether hot or cold doesn’t give out the irritating sweat. The double walls provide for better insulation, thus, more thermal performance.
Excellent design – there’s no doubt it’s aesthetically alluring as its functions.
Portable size – despite having different sizes, it fits in the hands just fine and car’s cup holder too.
Things We Didn’t Like:
Price – The Yeti is plain expensive
Despite the spill-resistant lid. Tossing the cup around may cause spills
Features and Accessories
Yeti uses durable stainless steel as a staple across all sizes; as a result, you get a puncture and rust-resistant buddy in your hands.
Double-wall vacuum insulation enables the cooler to retain cold or hot content for hours while adding to the overall quality of the product.
One of the best features we love about these mugs is it doesn’t sweat. In fact, the temperature of the content inside will not affect your hands whatsoever. Many user reviews have proved this to be undoubtedly true.
Also, the material build makes the product dishwasher friendly. Unlike the unpleasant steel taste when drinking off of most mugs, you are assured of enjoying every single sip without any gripe.
How long does ice last in a Yeti cup?
On paper, the Yeti should hold ice for 24 hours. However, most first-hand users including me have experienced an average of 12 hours of ice. Although exposing it to the sun may reduce its ice performance.
Here’s a testimony of a user;
On a very hot (over 100 degrees) I accidentally left my Yeti in the car for around 6 hours. When I got back to the car, the cup still had a little ice in it and my drink still cold. This was with the sun beaming down on it the whole time.
He further said, with a normal day use, the cup should stay cold for more than 24 hours!
How Long Will A Yeti Cup Keep Coffee Hot?
Say a brewed hot coffee is poured into the cup. With the lid on, you should expect nothing less than 5 – 6 hours.
Where Are Yeti Drinkware Made?
According to Yeti, the rambler drinkware are manufactured in China. To know where all their products are made, we’ve written an article about where yeti coolers are made. Check it here.
To wrap things up, the Yeti price is one of the most unattractive things you’ll hear people complain about. In the tests we conducted, it is clear the Yeti was superior to the generic model but only slightly. It’s scrutinizing that a cup almost twice as expensive doesn’t hold cold and hot twice as much?
